Back To School – Never Again Moments

Well, this post could end up being pretty embarrassing and I’m putting it on the internet…I never said I was normal, right? Meh, if you guys have been riding my posts you’ve already figured out I’m not awhile ago. Normal is boring anyways, who needs it.
Back to the point, I figured that with back to school and the series we’re doing for it on here I might as well do one about all the things I don’t want to do ever again, or just bad moments in general I suppose. I wonder if I’ll end up laughing or crying at myself? Huh, guess we’ll find out, I’ll let you know at the end of this.  Continue reading

Back to School ~ Choosing the Planner

Back to school is here people, and that is hella exciting!

I swear I’m a kid waiting for Christmas when it comes to my first day back; I literally can’t wait! So to get you all into this joyful spirit, I’m here to present my first back to school post, something that will for sure help you whether it’s your freshman year, or well beyond.

Planning your planner

Ha! Isn’t that catchy 😉

Planners are a high school essential that are sometimes overlooked when doing BTS shopping. But I promise, you’ll quickly realize the importance of having one when the year gets into full swing and homework, sports, and volunteer events start to build up.

When shopping for planners I typically go for ones that both have a large calendar at the beginning of each month, as well as separate pages dedicated to each day of the week. This way I can see both the big and little picture of my schedule. I totally recommend checking out Staples or Chapters when on the search for one, since they have the best variety!

When it comes to actually writing in your planner, I’m afraid I can’t be much help. The reason is that I’ve quickly come to realize that everyone keeps track of there stuff differently.

To the left are the super creative and fun people who keep life interesting. Oh, and to the right is me.

Some like writing in different colours for each subject, while others stick with the colour coded theme, but by using highlighters or sticky notes instead.

Personally, I’m the totally boring plain Jane who just likes to keep things one colour and neat 😉 .

My next recommendation when it comes to planners is to put it into a simple plastic folder.

This was literally a life saver for me as I brought this folder with me everywhere and filled it with permission forms, schedules, and extra paper. I found that by doing this, I always had everything I could possibly needed with me. The folder also soon became a place for me to put my homework too, so I could avoid bringing huge binders home every night.

In the end this was what helped me to keep the stress minimized and the days maximized. I hope it helps you too!

Have any special requests for our back to school series? Leave them in the comments!

Love ya lots,

Armentrout Month ~ Review: Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Pure (Covenant #2)
By Jennifer L. Armentrout

Paperback, 329 pages
Published April 3rd 2012 by Spencer Hill Press
Average Rating: 4.36

There is need. And then there is Fate. Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn’t exactly awesome–especially when Alexandria’s other half is everywhere she goes. Seth’s in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom–so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do–and sacrifice–for her. When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies–lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon–and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn’t blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude–or killing her. When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

Friday Favourites ~ Abandon

Guys, this week I introduce another old favourite! Drum Roll please……. Abandon!!!!

On a slightly related note, who’s all watched Princess Diaries? Yeah, stupid question, who hasn’t? Well, you guys know the book its originated from? The one that is not:

  • Supernatural
  • Mythology
  • Action-adventure
  • Suspenseful
  • or haunting

Yeah? Well imagine the exact opposite of that book. The one that is all of the above. There you have it people: Abandon.

Abandon New from #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, a dark, fantastical story about this world . . . and the underworld.

Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can’t help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she’s never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.

But now she’s moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.

Only she can’t. Because even here, he finds her. That’s how desperately he wants her back. She knows he’s no guardian angel, and his dark world isn’t exactly heaven, yet she can’t stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.

But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.

Now my only question is how the heck did these two books come from the same author!?! Meg Cabot, you have some skills girl!

Abandon is a phenomenal book that takes a breath-taking twist on Greek mythology!

The book stars the lovely Pierce as she moves to a new town with her mother so that they can start over after multiple ‘incidents’ at her last town. The only problem? This new town also happens to be an opening to the underworld. Huh. Aren’t we lucky? But here’s the thing, we totally are, because now Pierce just so happens to get more quality time with the Lord of the Underworld!

Meet John Hayden, also known as Hades, commonly referred to as Lord of the Underworld. John is quiet, mysterious, still stuck in the 1600s, and he is also hot as hell. See what I did there?

Side note: I should probably just give up with this whole Friday Favourites, and just introduce Book Boyfriend Friday, cause honestly, that’s pretty much what this is 😉

Abandon is a book that balances action/romance, and even a bit of suspense as you get ready for the bold plot twist that will totally satisfy any YA reader.

See you at the bookstore,

Well, we’re halfway through the season already!! Last week, we found out our Top 10! And you know what that means, ALL-STARS ARE BACK!!

This year’s Top 10 are: Continue reading

Cake Mix Cookies

The other night, my mom wanted me to bakimagese cookies. I however, didn’t. I didn’t want to gather all the ingredients. I didn’t want to clean up afterwards either. I was simply too lazy to bake anything. This definitely didn’t stop her from asking me to bake something, anything. Sooo I started to look up some super easy cookie recipes. There were recipes for all kinds of cookies! After about 5 mins, I came across a cake mix cookie recipe. It seemed simple enough, so I searched the cupboards for a cake mix. I got lucky and found a chocolate cake mix in the first placed I looked. I gathered the remaining ingredients and began to bake.
